"crazy story" game

today i introduced my older classes to exquisite corpsing, which i dubbed (for simplicity) the "crazy story" game. two out of three classes wrote boring ass stuff, but one class, my final class of the day, worked magic. 'twas a thing of beauty and flawed grammar and hilarity. i of course thought of nhwc and wished you could all have been here to experience the moment with me. i will try to scan and post the story, titled "the fat boy likes to eat people" tomorrow. for now the title will serve as a teaser... to whet your appetite (for people?), as it were. [btw, eating people is low carb., so why is the boy fat? this is a topic we didn't get into in class, as low-carb diets are unheard of here in the land of epic white rice consumption]

big mouth strikes again

Ladies and gent, I miss NHWC and thought I'd share some recent rejection in the spirit of old times. You'll note you know all of these works, I do believe.
Missing Club,
Ms. Beverly

Dear Beverly,

Great to hear from you and thank you for submitting your work:

With hundreds of literary magazines to choose from, we're truly honored that you selected QF! We’re sorry to say, however, that we were not able to place your work in this issue. We wish you the best in placing it elsewhere.

We love your work, Bev, but it just didn't have the narrative arc we were looking for. (beginning-middle-ending or hints thereof) Certainly hope you're working on a novel though! Your eye is as good now as I remember it in school!

Best,
Fine Editor
