cannolis

A moment of silence now for the cannolis I just ate. If ever there was evidence of my bankrupt italian heritage, my love for them is it. I have a tray of fresh ones from an italian bakery in BPT, and I wonder, do I eat them now, while they are fresh, or do I save them for tomorrow night's carlos projeckt show @ cafe nine, where I plan to finally eat some of their delicious food, and then pull pasty from the purse. oh, what a modern conundrum.

I might add, by the way, that I keep typing "ass" instead of "add" which may suggest I have tourettes. But also the highlight of the trip (besides getting to go in the backdoor and see where all the pastries are made & cakes are decorated) was that I got to kiss the italian owner on the cheek like I was his granddaughter.
oh cannolis.....
i highly recommend you saving them until tomorrow. and that's not a veiled attempt to score some myself at all. nope. wouldn't even think of that.
i have to strongly advise against saving for tomorrow night. the shells will become soggy by then, which, in my opinion, will take them down about 75% in delightfulness. cannolis are best eaten when fresh, so that the shell provides a crunchy contrast to the smooth and moist filling. it's all about the crunchy:gooey ratio. if you want to eat a soggy cannoli, just pick one up at libby's. ha. oh, and for cafe 9 food, i recommend the bean burrito with vegetarian chicken added. or the baked potato with cheese with vegetarian bacon added. mmmm good!
I knew I could count on you ladies to provide the cannoli direction I need. There are a lot--they are minis--like 10 at least, so maybe I'll eat 1/2 and save the other 1/2 for tomorrow, at which point they hopefully won't be that soggy. The shells are really really crunchy today, leading me to believe that they will last semi-okay until tomorrow.
dude. i feel like i just got cock-blocked.
The cannolis sit untouched in the fridge at work. I forgot to bring them home. But I can go get them tomorrow, in time for the inhalation at cafe nine. and I think they will be fine. delicious. yummy-dumptious. mmmm.
oh no sarah, i didn't mean to cock block you pastry-style. it's just that i consider myself to be a bit of a cannoli nazi, and as such had to state my very strong opinion. for me a soggy cannoli is worse than no cannoli at all. but i hope you two will enjoy eating those very much and that they will have defied (sp?) my expectations and maintained their crunchy shell lusciousness. i just ate at mozzicato's last week, so i am hella spoiled. but what else is new...
who knew cannolis could cause such a ruckus?
Cannoli siciliani - An Italian pastry dessert consisting of a fried pasta tube-shaped shell filled with a sweet, creamy filling, commonly containing ricotta cheese, vanilla and chocolate or chocolate chips.
Cannoli, as well as many other specialities of Italian pasticceria, originated in Sicily centuries ago, and can now easily be found in better Italian bakeries and restaurants and is an essential part of Sicilian cuisine.
The word "cannoli" is the plural form of the Italian word cannolo which literally translates to "little tube."
COCKBLOCK
cannolis prevail.
there is a slim chance I am getting more today, as I type this, my friend is at the shop, and well, there may be more cannolis for hungry ladies. Fresher & more delicious.
