all quiet on the western front

Club is in shambles. SLS is in Norway, SR is on grief hiatus, and Sally and I can't even put a pen to paper. At least I can flex the reading muscles. Highly recommended is this week's New Yorker all about cookie development and the egg chef masters of Las Vegas. I went for a walk today at five pennies park and watched a mom & daughter feed ducks because I was shooed out of the office because the old, crazy boss showed up here hysterical about the hurricane. The excitment never ends!

mother-daughter duck feeding sounds so lovely.

will inspiration strike? will club ever reconvene? is snacking and smack-talking a thing of the past?
stay tuned next week to see....

guys....don't forget that very soon, you have to do a road trip to hicksville...also, i am reading "WHite Teeth." I have been reading it forever!!!! I can't finish the damn thing, but I am close FINALLY. I just don't love it. It's OK, well-written, but I am bored by it...did you read and/or like it? Any suggestions for a next read????

trix - i'm so down for some cowtipping in lieu of a writers' club meeting. maybe we can incorporate the two and write about the experience after. wait! i don't want to knock over poor, big-eyed moocows while they are peacefully sleeping! i guess we'll all just traipse up there solely for the company of the rogalskis.
as for white teeth, i also wasn't thrilled with it. but, the last thing i read was everything is illuminated and i WAS thrilled with it. absolutely. i recommend it highly.

trix
I tried to read white teeth once and got bored. I recommend the professor & the madman, blink (by malcolm gladwell) and of course, I have just started everything is illuminated and it is great.

I am strangely DELIGHTEd that you two were also bored with it!!! :) Great minds, ladies....I will pick up BOTH suggestions! Beth, I tried reading it once a long time ago, then started it again out of the feeling that I MUST have been missing something and now am only finishing it b/c I DO that, I feel guilty about not. But, I have like 40 pages. So hopefully today!!!!!

And seriously....let me start my new job Tuesday, see how that goes and when SLS is back, you'll have to take a country trip! (sans cowtipping, but we can feed them apples and pears, their big yellow tongues will lap them right out of your hand!)
:)
